Dear Yuletide Writer
Thank you so much! The thought of a story in any of these fandoms is already making me happy.
I love all of these fandoms unreservedly, so if you have a yen to explore the universe, or bring in additional characters I didn't list, it's all good.
If you want more information about my requests, read on - but please don't worry if your ideas go in a different direction. Optional details are optional! I would much rather read the story you wanted to write than the story you felt you were obligated to write because of something I said. As long as it's for one of these fandoms, and uses the characters, you totally win at Yuletide. \o/
My fic tastes
I generally prefer the warm / happy / fluffy / vanilla end of the spectrum, especially for Yuletide.
I'm mainly a m/m slash fan, with a strong leaning toward buddy pairs; where I’m not in it for the slash, I’m usually in it for the gen.
Slash for me covers the full spectrum from UST and preslash through totally committed/involved, and can be explicit or not depending on what suits the story. It's all about the characters and their relationship, whatever point it may be at.
But if you matched on one of my slash-potential requests and don't do slash, that's totally fine! "Relationship" also covers friendship, and gen about these characters will also make me really happy.
Some story elements and styles I like, in no particular order:
I like stories that weave into canon (missing scenes, episode tags...), stories that expand on canon (backstory, futurefic...), stories that deepen existing canon (case/adventure fic, slice of life, romances...).

Boston Legal (Denny Crane, Alan Shore)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! I love the way Alan and Denny love each other. They can and do disagree and about a lot of things, but they really do complete each other, and they both know it. I would love to see almost anything with them, set any time. (Please nothing that focuses on Denny's advancing illness per se.) A slice of life, Coast Guard adventures, curtainfic, kittenfic, road trip, new client, gone fishin', -- anything will make me happy. I miss these two a lot. <3
Why I requested it: I recently saw a few bits and pieces of the show again, and it all came flooding back, how much I adore Alan and Denny. They're not really likable in many ways, but I love them to bits, because they love each other so much. They're so different in some of their core beliefs, but they don't try to change each other; they may make fun of each other a bit, but it's affectionately, with genuine acceptance, and a real enjoyment, even delight, in each other's company. They're just so good together.
I just want to see more of that, anything from a case they're working together to a vacation trip to a sleepover to dinner to an adventure on the high seas as Coast Guard.
Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986) (Terry Doolittle)
Request details: Terrrrrrry! <3 I love her, and would love to see anything about her, whether with other characters from the movie or not. Do she and Liz hang out? How does her relationship with Jack go? How did she figure out how to handle the Russian television thing in the first place? Just how many people does she know on the banking network, anyway? Does she get along with her neighbors? Just show me something about Terry interacting with the world, and I’ll be happy. Gen, het, slash; backstory, missing scenes, futurefic; any rating – whatever you want to do, I’ll be happy.
Why I requested it: This is one of those movies I stop and watch any time I stumble across it on tv. It never gets old. Terry is fabulous, and pushes all my competence, snark, and banter buttons. She's the best kind of action hero - smart, brave, resourceful, witty, adaptable - whether she's fixing a work computer or rescuing a spy.
I would love to see anything with her - wacky hijinks, a quiet night at home, solo or paired up with whoever you want, handling her new job, being stuck on the subway... you name it. If it's about Terry Doolittle, it's got to be good. <3
Night Court (Harry Stone, Dan Fielding)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! I love the way these two became friends almost despite themselves, and how despite everything, there's a solid core of trust and respect between them. Anything you want to write, from a courtroom session to a slice of life, from wacky hijinks to intimate vulnerability -- it's all good. I just love the connection between these two, and as long as that's there, I'll be happy.
Why I requested it: I don't get invested in most sitcoms, but this has always been an exception. There is so much to love about this show, from sheer wackiness to genuine emotion. All of the characters and relationships are great, but my favorites are Harry and Dan. They're the heart of the show for me; Harry is the one person Dan really *trusts*, and he never betrays that trust as they get closer every year. And it works the other way, too; Dan's the one who has the guts to tell Harry the truth when Harry tries to quit his job. They are so different, and seem to have so little in common, and yet they're always, always there for each other. <3
I'd be happy with any kind of story about them as long as their connection is there, from a court case to an interlude in Harry's chambers to a quiet day at home (or wherever)... really, anything at all. I would love to see slash for them, but if that isn't your thing, a buddy story would also be fabulous.
Tango & Cash (1989) (Ray Tango, Gabriel Cash)
Request details: Slash or gen, any rating, please! I love these two, how they’re both so incredibly competent and confident, and how they’re that much better together no matter how much they would rather not admit it. I would love to see more of them together, however that happens - a case, a night on the town, competing at the firing range, a "grill the best burger" challenge - anything. Snark and banter and growing respect & trust are a fantastic combination.
Why I requested it: This is also one of those movies I stop and watch any time I stumble across it on tv. Opposites having to work together and learning to respect, trust, and like each other is one of my buttons, and these two have that in spades, combined with vast amounts of competence.
I'd love any kind of story about them as long as that connection is there, whether it's sparky and snarky around movie-time or mellowed out a bit down the road in futurefic.
I adore all these fandoms, and will be happy with absolutely anything you write, as long as you enjoy writing it.
