I hadn't seen either of the other two DCEU movies that Aquaman appeared in, which may have been part of the issue; I wasn't pre-invested at all. But mostly I just found it boring and flat, enough that when it went to ridiculous places that could have charmed or delighted me I was just massively eye-rolly instead.
I realized when I went back to watching MCU that part of the reason was the lack of reaction shots to things to deepen a moment, and little beats to let things breathe. It left me feeling really unconnected to what was happening on the screen. But really it was just everything; I am not the audience for DCEU movies, I think, other than Wonder Woman.
Eventually even the pretty of Jason Momoa wasn't enough to stick with it.
