Honestly, I think a lot of people looked at "explicit" and assumed it meant "extreme", but in a situation that's dealing with PTSD triggers, I figure by the time you get to "extreme" it's probably way too late. Someone who was beaten will likely react as badly to a punch as to a graphic swordfight (if not worse, since a punch would be a more relevant reminder than "fantasy violence", as my tv calls it).

... I am o_O at that comic book right now, though sadly not surprised. Hello US culture, home of violent prudery. *sigh*
