My landlord seems convinced the walls themselves aren't being damaged - they're plaster, which he's sure just dry out as long as they're not being repeatedly soaked. Could well be; nothing's fallen down in the 15 years since the last soaking, at least!

But it would be lovely to get new paint (although omg, what a pain to clear the walls - I am not a minimalist by any means, and there is stuff lining every wall in my living room).

We're still at the point where "it's in the 60s" is cause for bare arms and open windows. *g*
