FWIW, what I'm planning to do - much though I hate it and want to keep gmail, argh smash!!!! - is find a new email service to use on my phone. (well, in addition to trickster, which I also use - and if you want a trickster account, just ask S, she'll be happy to give you one).
But I like having imap email on my phone, too, so I'll find something - at this point, probably either fastmail or zoho. It will even be possible to use them to read your gmail; you can set gmail to forward messages to another account.
I figure the first week will be annoying as it all shakes out, but it should work itself out!
The map app won't be a problem, as long as you're not logged in to google on your phone at all; they'll wind up with some data, but no more than they get right now, basically "someone went from here to there". They won't be able to easily attach that to you specifically.
