Oh, good point, about the multiple sign-ins; I turned mine on at one point for G+ since I wanted to test a fannish and RL one at the same time. I need to make sure that's off.

Re: The Gmail alternatives -- Do you know if any of the alternative email services will let you import your Gmail mail?

I've just signed up for several of the alternatives to see what they're like. Out of the box, Zoho feels the closest to Gmail to me just based on looks and things like labels, but Fastmail has a function under "Options", in the Maintenance section, called "Migrate IMAP" that will do a one-time pull of everything off another IMAP server (they warn not to do this more than once, as you'll just get dupes of everything). They have a few Gmail specifics in the form, so clearly it's designed to work with Gmail as well as others.

But if your gmail is anything like mine, you'll need to sign up for one of the paid options to have enough space to pull it all in; the free version only has 25 MB of storage.

Zoho will allow you to import messages, but you'd need to save your Gmail to your desktop then upload them, in .eml format (you can zip a bunch of .emls together, but the zip files can't be more than 200 MB each. There's also the storage issue; the free Zoho account only comes with 50 MB of storage.
