After reading the EFF's take on all of this I am fairly certain that if you have multiple google accounts they won't merge them, so long as you have gmail for each account. So that's a comfort. They also recommend using separate browsers to log into each google account which is what I already do, so I'm happy about that at least.

Another point of reference: for people using Safari on computuers using OS 10.4 or earlier they will be unable to install any of the extensions. Which I didn't realize until trying to install Ghostery on Safari because my default for Safari tends to be "use as little as possible" so I hadn't bothered with trying to install anything before.

Still not sure what to do about work -- luckily we don't usually do anything that legally requires confidentiality, but it would suck for *us* if what we were working on could be figured out.
