I also almost feel like I should make a post about being underage during the mailing list years, which was... a challenge. Most people I know around my age (I'm 29) who were in fandom then can talk about just how many fake age statements we had out there, how many years we were 18, and just how careful we had to be about who we talked to, because slipping up often meant being kicked off lists or losing access to archives - and therefore losing access to fandom entirely. Talk about a different atmosphere than fandom today.
