Hee. Yeah, I have fond memories of mailing lists, but I also remember this. (And, of course, I was on a lot of yahoo groups, which people could make at will, so that was different from the older mailing list days.)

What I like about multifandom archives and people's personal journals is that it's easier to find and find an audience for fic that isn't strictly slash or strictly het.
