I always really liked Webrings in theory, but never quite got used to using them regularly. Although clicking through to the index page made for a really fast way to find a lot of sites at once, I must say.
And I think we were on all the same Highlander mailing lists. Although I was a big lurker in that fandom.
I mostly lurked, as well; I was more active in FK and DS at the time, and I joined the HL Big List too late, so the culture was already established and I didn't have time to get used to it as it formed. It was too different from what I was used to, and I was never comfortable with the idea of posting there.
I stayed on hlfic and hlx for a long time after I left the big list (and the wee Connor MacLeod list I was on for a bit), because the HL archiving system was so wacky and scattered, and you never knew where any of the fiction was otherwise.
