arduinna: a tarot-card version of Linus from Peanuts, carrying a lamp as The Hermit (Default)

I know; I looked at the list and started writing down everything that hit my DNW button, which started getting pretty long in terms of stuff I would just rather not write. But then I went and looked at my last year's signup and discovered that I had narrowed it down to vetoing just hazing and humiliation, and thought, well, that's actually probably about right for me; humiliation is the one thing I specifically say "don't write that, please" in my YT signups, even though there are other things I'm not fond of.

I can find a way to work around almost anything else, or just ignore it, but those I don't want anywhere near me.

So the rest is a gamble, and it doesn't always pay off (honestly, I was hoping for no death or grief prompts, and I'm not thrilled with whipping/flogging as that is not my scene at all, even in a non-sexy way, but eh). But otoh, gambling also potentially results in things like cuddling for warmth! (Which I've never yet gotten, but someday I am sure I will.)

Plus, you don't need to fill the entire card; all you have to do, in the end, is a minimum of five prompts (... and some of us don't even do that), and they don't even need to be all in a row. There are several options, so you can route around prompts you don't like.

And I guess partly I look at it like Yuletide; you never know what you're going to be asked for, but you can also tweak the request to suit you.

Like, tentacles - not just Haven! What if Scotty and Kelly are diving somewhere to find an important doohickey that fell off a boat, and one of them tangles with a passing octopus who wraps his tentacles around and won't let go? And he is wounded by suckers, and needs tending! Or, on a lighter note, the octupus steals the doohickey with it's suckery tentacles, and they get reamed out for losing it, with Troy sitting there demanding to know if they're really telling him that an OCTOPUS ate their assignment...

Also, fwiw, I've seen people group some veto things into themes without any problems -- I know I've seen people veto "anything pregnancy-related" or "anything sexual-assault-related".

Just if you are still thinking about it! *g* I have great fun with this challenge, in theory. And hopefully some day in practice.
