to my Yuletide Secret Santa
First off, thank you so much for writing this! I'll be happy with anything you do; just knowing that someone is writing a story in one of these fandoms has me beaming.
If you already have an idea of what you want to write, or you prefer having as little info as possible, ignore the rest of this -- write what makes you happy! But if you're looking for a bit more info:
(Dorinda said this best. *g*)
I love slash, by which I mean anything from pre-slash and UST all the way up through explicit sex -- it's all good. If you're not comfortable writing slash, gen will also make me happy. Really, it's about the characters and their relationships for me.
Some things I like: first times, hurt/comfort (physical or emotional), snark, banter, affection, trust (either existing, or discovering, trust), competence, happy endings (or endings that leave room for eventual happiness), plots, pwps, wit, romance (in terms of a building relationship, not so much the Harlequin/Mills&Boon sort of thing), the moment of discovery/realization, canon-based characterization.
If you're looking at that thinking "but I wanted to write an angsty established-relationship AU!" -- please do! I enjoy a much wider range of fiction than I listed there; I didn't want to overwhelm with a huge list of everything I've ever enjoyed reading.
The only things I can't read are domestic discipline and embarrassment/humiliation (I have a severe embarrassment squick); the next rung of that ladder would be the "really not my cup of tea" level, with things like hardcore bdsm, torturefic, mpreg, and genderfuck. Beyond those, pretty much anything goes. Although I tend to prefer the lighter, vanilla, happy/fluffy end of the spectrum, a dip into murkier waters is no problem. :)
If you want to check something with someone who knows me/my tastes, you can ask
therienne -- she won't mind.
And thank you again!
