Yes! Everything you said. It's such a reduction, of all of them. It reduces Carter (duh,) but it also reduces Reese and it reduces Finch and it reduces the complexity of the show and the complexity of the characters and the relationships they can have and the emotions they can have and it's annoying as all hell.
