You know what's the most intriguing about this is that all of what you describe are among my own favorite tropes as well, but I had never thought of it as intimacy, per se. I think for me it's more a sort of ... loyalty-against-all-odds fetish, I think. And emotional warmth, yes, that, so much. But I'd never actually thought of it as intimacy per se, even though it totally is, of course. For me, other things like "sacrificing for each other" or "doing something nice for the other person in secret" fit under the same general tropish umbrella, but they're really not intimacy tropes in the same way that snuggling for warmth is. (I think intimacy is a part of it for me, but I had never really thought about it being a major part.) So interesting!
