Announcement: Fest 38 Open at Small Fandoms Fest! (Multi-Fandom)

Our Thirty-Eighth Fest at

smallfandomfest is now open for prompt submission!

We don’t think we’re the only ones excited at the prospect of getting a bunch of new fanfic and fanart in our favorite small fandoms. By now you know what we need you to do to make that happen: you have to submit loads of prompts to entice others to write fic or create art (including graphics, fanvids, and fanmixes)! And if you know anyone else who loves small fandoms, please point them in our direction.

We’ll be accepting prompts through November 21st. For more information or to submit a prompt, check out the Prompt Submission Post, and then follow the link to the prompt submission form.

Prompts will be available for claiming on November 23rd.

Content notes: Scattershot style references to at the very least the first Mario movie, a few of the Mario RPGs, the first Mario + Rabbids game, Super Mario Odyessy, Paper Mario and the Origami King and the Kaden Mackay song "Your Stupid Face" - the events of the story vaguely follows the rough story of Your Stupid Face. Also. Bowser has a potty mouth, hence the given rating.
Author notes: Ahahahaha..... I wrote up this experimental piece with an actual ship in mind. I've liked the song for a while.

Summary: A very unlikely relationship starts between the burly Bowser Koopa and his archnemesis, the plumber hero Mario, found between fights, Princess Peach kidnapping schemes and near-catastrophes over many years - making Bowser get very used to the feeling of missing what he believes he can never have.

Ollie's Queens joins Dreamwidth

olliesqueens is a dreamwidth community dedicated to het & gen relationships of Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow, thus "Ollie's Queens". The community was imported from LiveJournal, it originally focused on the Smallville version of Oliver Queen het & gen relationships. Since lack of works posted to LJ for awhile and since Smallville had ended back 2011 (Smallville Season 11 ended in 2014) & Arrow ended in 2020, Ollie's Queens has since opened up to any universe Oliver Queen exists in, including comics, animation, films, and shows of course.

Will U.S. cable TV still exist?

Paramount has just cut 1000 jobs and 1000 more job cuts are expected. They want to reach "$2 billion in expense cuts across the company." That's more than most companies and some countries are worth.

Job cuts after an acquisition aren't surprising. It usually happens in a frenzy, and some positions come back once the losses start leading to problems. But a line in this news story, as well as another article coming out the same day, made me start thinking about where big cuts are likely to come from.

"More than 800 people — or about 3.5% of the company’s workforce — were laid off in June, prior to the Ellison family takeover. At the time, Paramount’s management attributed the cuts to the decline of cable television subscriptions and an increased emphasis on bulking up its streaming TV business. In 2024, the company eliminated 2,000 positions, or 15% of its staff." (emphasis mine) ( Read more... )
