new POI comm, video converters, and rambling
So since I posted my list of comms two days ago, a couple of people have created a new Person of Interest discussion comm:
pofinterest_chat -- looks like it just got created today, in fact. Check it out!
Lifehacker had a post today about video conversion programs that looked interesting; I've used three out of their top five, but it's always good to have more options. All the programs they list are free and will convert multiple formats back and forth.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to write up a decent con report, and keep getting buried in the fact that I want to report on everything, which is a lot. We'll see how it goes. It wasn't helped today by digging out my panel notes from Friday and seeing the audio editing stuff, and promptly haring off to Adobe Audition to stare at waveforms for a while, and go "ooo" a lot. Time to start looking at how-to videos for that, too.

I know how that is, wanting to SAY ALL THE THINGS. This is definitely one of my barriers to posting (very noticeable now that I am trying to post something every day).
I'm getting daily practice at pushing past the BUT BUT BUT ALL THE THIIIINGS mental block, and I hope I'll be learning new skills for the long run!
And hey, maybe you could do something like--one con-day per post? Or half a con-day per post? One show/panel per post? As much of a con-day per post as you can write in one comfortable sitting? After all, there are lots of upcoming days in which you can post followups that can gradually go all the way through the con...

And Rindy, that goes for your posts, too. You don't have to include all the things. If you're posting again tomorrow, save some for then.
This deep life wisdom brought to you by the person who posts twice a year. Maybe.

And hm. Now that I've just told Rindy that I can't write in parts because once I post the first piece, my brain checks it off as done and moves on, I'm wondering if maybe the daily posting thing might circumvent that, because there would always be something in my head going "yes but you need to post *something*, so write up that panel you forgot to mention". Hmmm. I'm not sure, but I'll ponder that for a while!

Which I totally will/am this year; doing full vid reviews is something I miss and I wish more people did, but dear *god* they're a lot of work. And it's tempting with the streaming to want to review every single vid WOO! -- but that's what, 250 vids, or so? ahaha no. Even just doing a full DVD set takes me a few months of pretty steady work, since I'm not the speediest at vid parsing. (And there's also panels to report on, of course! But those I can parse in progress much more easily *g*)
But yes, definitely breaking it up is the way to go overall! So I write a bit of con report almost every day, then post something else. *g* And come the day I'm done (or close enough), I'll post in parts, too, rather than overwhelm anyone.
And yes! I'm also finding that with posting every day, suddenly I'm much more likely to be willing to just post a link or two to something, because it's not like that's the first thing I've said in, er, months, or that it will be the only thing I say for more months. It's remarkably freeing, inside its particular restraints!
So I am embracing the randomness of finding something (different) to post about every day, which I'm sure some days will wind up being "and here's another bit about what I said yesterday" but hey, that's okay too.
