fast tv stuff

ack, it's 11:54 and I haven't written anything up; knew I shoulda saved that Arrow post for today!

So instead I will say some VERY FAST things about tv from the last few days:

Korra:

Oh, interesting -- this is clearly the Season of Siblings. They did a nice job with Korra's uncle; I kept changing my mind all episode about what he was doing and why he was doing it. Also, hee, poor Tenzin, and his two generations of family. <3


Haven:

OMG that HUG. I have watched it many times, and it continues to make me ridiculously happy. ♥ ♥ &hearts

Nathan just keeps making these desperate little noises all the way through it, and Duke doesn't let go no matter how bad Nathan smells. <3

Also the rest of the ep was fun. *g* But mostly I got stuck on that hug.

Sleepy Hollow:

Fun! Very fast moving so far, but I am happy to go along with their ride, at least for now.

and argh I want to say more about all of them, but now it's 11:59, meep.

Ooh, i'm brand new to Haven fannishness (marathoned it last week.) Is Nathan and Duke the relationship we are invested in? I can kind of see that, but I just don't like Duke much and i'm not sure if that makes me weird of not. I need to go find fic of this and stuff. Get the lay of the land. That sort of thing.

Heh - well, it's the relationship I'm invested in, anyway! I love their very intertwined, roller-coaster-y background, and how they just can't quit each other.

The fandom at large seems to be getting increasingly invested in the OT3 of Nathan/Audrey/Duke. I can totally see why they are and support them cheerfully, but it's not my cuppa.

I don't know how far you are, but Duke gets steadily more sympathetic as the show goes on, so he may start appealing to you more. Although if you marathoned the entire thing and still don't like him much, I suggest the Nathan/Audrey end of the fandom! *g* I think it's the biggest overall ship anyway (but also not my cuppa, so I don't know much about it...).

Yeah, i've caught up - unfortunately, the more sympathetic Duke gets the less I like him - the bad boy and the heart of gold and the doomed romance and being the one person with a useful power and the special destined one and stuff and stuff...eh, too Gary Stu for me. I'm just more invested in Nathan. (But not necessarily Nathan/Audrey, oddly enough. If Audrey wanders off with Duke and Nathan meets someone else really great, I could live with that.)

Ah! I can understand that.

FWIW, a lot of the folks I know who're into Haven were really angry with/upset at Nathan for season 3. I wasn't; I think most of his behavior and reactions to things made sense for a complex character who's reacting to a long history of various things, and I mostly wanted to hug him to make it better. *g* But if you go looking for reactions, you may see some frothing about how he's treating other people.

But I'm also over in a fairly tiny corner, so I have no idea how the fandom at large reacted!

I mostly just want to hug Nathan, no matter what he does. (And then feel all the worse for him because hugs are not a happy place for him, poor kid.) He just tries so hard, you know? I miss his dynamic with his dad too - two really stubborn people who are making an effort they're completely unequipped for, and mostly failing, but recognizing that they need to anyway.
