site update -- Invisible Man master list

I've scoured the web and come up with what I hope is a fairly complete list of I-Man stories, writers, vids, archives, mailing lists, LJ communities, transcripts, and episode guides.

Invisible Man master list

The stories are split out by gen / het / slash and by pairing, but that's it -- no ratings, no warnings, no recs. I'm not listing stories on archives, only things I find on individual pages.*

If I'm missing anything, I would love to hear about it, either here or by email.

Please do pass the URL around to anywhere it might be useful. Thanks!

*The exceptions are teeny-tiny archives, or multi-fandom archives with tiny I-Man sections that seem unlikely to ever be expanded, or "archives" that are really one or two people's collected work. But once something gets up to 10-15+ stories by more than a couple of people, I list it strictly in the archive section.

new(ish) SGA story -- Candygram, now illustrated!

Title: Candygram
Author: Arduinna
Illustrator: [livejournal.com profile] cynicatlantis
Rating: G, preslash (McKay/Sheppard)
Summary: "Do you think it ate Colonel Sheppard?" Crackfic.
Spoilers: None.
Roughly 1,800 words

So, I posted a story in [livejournal.com profile] merrymakings about a month ago to cheer [livejournal.com profile] merryish up while she was recovering from surgery, inspired by a drawing [livejournal.com profile] cynicatlantis had done. After she read the story, to my absolute delight, [livejournal.com profile] cynicatlantis made several fabulous illos specifically for it, including the perfect cover. So, just in time for [livejournal.com profile] merryish's birthday:

Candygram, broadband version (~400k, image-heavy)

Candygram, dialup version (~20k, linked images)

Happy birthday, Merry!

recs page update -- 50 new recs in 10 fandoms

All of the new recs can be found on the What's New page.

Or go straight to the individual fandoms, with new recs at the top (everything's dated):

I broke out four fandoms into their own pages - Due South, Invisible Man, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate SG-1 - because they all had 10 or more recs and were making the mixed-fandom pages too crowded. If more fandoms reach that level, I'll break them out as well.

I also added a page that lets people look for recs by category -- nothing fancy, just a list of links to sets of my del.icio.us bookmarks for specific tags (e.g., everything I've got tagged as both h/c and recs).

Yuletide stories - Boston Legal, Night Court

I wrote two stories for Yuletide this year -- my assignment and a pinch hit. I'd never written anything in either fandom before, so Yuletide continues its tradition of making me try new things.

Jolly Roger
Boston Legal, written for Yochan
10k, gen (...ish), Alan and Denny

"I always thought I'd make a good pirate," Denny said idly.

Night Court, written for pepperlandgirl
10k, PG, Harry/Dan

to my Yuletide Secret Santa

First off, thank you so much for writing this! I'll be happy with anything you do; just knowing that someone is writing a story in one of these fandoms has me beaming.

If you already have an idea of what you want to write, or you prefer having as little info as possible, ignore the rest of this -- write what makes you happy! But if you're looking for a bit more info... )

new story for the Worst-Case Scenario challenge

I just posted a story for the Worst-Case Scenario challenge:

Restorative

It's Peacemakers, Stone/Finch. I had to rush this a bit to meet the deadline, so I may wind up tweaking it some more over the next few days; fair warning.

I also redid the look of the site and put up a few bits and pieces I meant to put up a while back, including:

Interrogation
a Dead Zone crossover drabble with Law & Order: Criminal Intent. (no, really.)

and

One Degree of Separation
an Alias PWP (Will/Vaughn) that I wrote years ago and never did anything with.

site update -- recs page

I just added a recs page to my site. The first (huge) batch of recs covers more than 90 stories, in more than 50 fandoms -- the number of fandoms is thanks to the Yuletide archive, which is where a good many of these stories live.

Beyond Yuletide, a lot of these are older stories from older fandoms. Obviously, despite the numbers, I've barely scratched the surface; there are entire fandoms still missing, and lots of stories in the fandoms I've started in on that I didn't get around to adding. I'll be adding more eventually, but I don't know how often or extensively.

Stargate Handbook

The Stargate Handbook has just gone through some major changes. I expanded it to include Stargate Atlantis and redid the look of things a bit, and moved it to its own domain:

http://stargatehandbook.org

SG1 is currently updated through Prometheus Unbound.

SGA is currently updated through Hot Zone.

I've also created [livejournal.com profile] sg_handbook, which is where the more detailed announcement for this move/expansion/update is, and where all future Stargate Handbook announcements will go.

new I-Man story

This is a late entry for [livejournal.com profile] slodwick's A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words challenge. It was due on Feb. 28, but I spaced and didn't get it done on time.

The idea was that you'd be assigned a picture, and have to write a story of exactly 1,000 words based on it -- literally, metaphorically, whatever.

my assignment picture )

The story I came up with was Playing Hooky, a slash Invisible Man story. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] marycrawford for the beta!

I went with I-Man for a very specific reason -- that being [livejournal.com profile] therienne. In case you're interested, it's better to read the story before reading this explanation (no, really *g*), so I'm putting this under tons of space in a cut.

The story behind the story )

site back up, and Yuletide

Thanks to the hardworking Seah, trickster.org is back up and working beautifully, with sites slowly coming back on line as the site owners get them uploaded.

I've been uploading and making little fixes, and now my site is back up, including the SG Handbook.

My Yuletide story this year was written for for [livejournal.com profile] kirbyfest, and is gen Dead Zone. It's on the Yuletide archive here, and up at my own site here.

Yuletide story / website

My Yuletide story won't be going up just yet, because the server my site is housed on is having some problems. When I get it uploaded, I'll announce it here.

four new rambles

After reading one too many stories full of epithets, I started writing an essay/ramble/rant thing about "elegant variation", which expanded into these cheesily named things:

Variety Is the Spice of Life... and I Need Some Tums (This one's sort of the 'base' essay.)

Purple Fanfic's (total lack of) Majesty

Epithets: Fandom's Designated Hitters

'Said' Is Not a Four-Letter Word

And, thanks to a bunch of friends who chimed in with examples from their fandoms, I pulled together a list of epithet examples from all over, just for fun:

Yuletide

Just in case my Secret Santa checks in here looking for clues...

I'm really very easy to please -- just knowing that there will be a story in one of those fandoms is making me happy. Write anything you want!

If you need a bit more, slash is my favorite take, but I'll be very happy with gen if that's what you go with. I'm much more about the characters themselves and their relationships with each other than any specific kinks. Recognizing the voices in a story is a huge happy button for me. I like everything from warm'n'fuzzy to angst, funny to bittersweet; I like fluffy PWPs and complex plots and everything in between. I love snarkiness, but don't require it. The darker end of the spectrum isn't generally my thing, but the only thing I can't read is domestic discipline.

So, pretty much -- write anything you want! *g* Whatever you're comfortable with will be great. And thank you so much!
