Dear Yuletide Writer

Thank you so much! The thought of a story in any of these fandoms is already making me happy.
Usually this is where I say "whatever you want to do with them is great", and then put my specifics likes and dislikes under a cut for easy ignoring. I'm still doing that, with one caveat:
This past year has been pretty rough on me in terms of personal losses, and I'd really like something that falls on the warm / happy / fluffy / vanilla end of the spectrum, if possible. If that isn't something you can do, I understand; just please no deathfic or loss of a loved one, including pets; and no terminal illnesses of any kind as an h/c trope. Thank you. <3
I love all four of these fandoms unreservedly, so if you have a yen to explore the universe, or bring in additional characters I didn't list, it's all good.
If you want more information about my requests, read on - but please don't worry if your ideas go in a different direction. Optional details are optional! As long as it's for one of these fandoms, and uses the characters, you totally win at Yuletide. \o/
My fic tastes
You will have noticed I'm a slash fan, with a strong leaning toward buddy pairs. Slash for me covers the full spectrum from UST and preslash through totally committed/involved, and can be explicit or not depending on what suits the story. It's all about the characters and their relationship, whatever point it may be at.
But if you don't do slash, that's totally fine! "Relationship" also covers friendship, and gen about these characters will also make me really happy.
Some story elements I like, in no particular order:
Some story styles I like, in no particular order:
I also like crossovers, whether serious or cracky, and I read in a wide variety of fandoms -- if you have an idea to cross one of my requested fandoms with another fandom I know, feel free! (But of course, as always, don't feel obligated!)
If you want a more extensive look at the sorts of stories I like, I have a recs site that you can look at if that will help, and I tag things on pinboard as well. My own stories are here on AO3, and I also some bookmarks on AO3 as well.
Why I love these fandoms
(Alphabetical, not ranked by preference! I love them all. :)
Burn Notice (Sam Axe, Michael Westen)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! I love how competent they both are, and how they're such a well-oiled team, even though they couldn't be more different in a lot of ways. I'd love to see some light/warm moments about them and their strong connection to each other, anything from backstory to a slice of life to a case story.
Where to find it:This is ridiculously hard to find streaming online -- Hulu has one or two episodes at a time, and iTunes has a lot available to buy, but that seems to be pretty much it. The first four seasons are out on DVD; otherwise, the usual channels are probably the place to check.
Why I requested it: Michael's world is pretty grim, angsty, and tense; Sam's is pretty cheerful, friendly, and laid-back. I love seeing how effortlessly those two worldviews fit together as they work together toward the same goal, or even just hanging out. I'm fascinated by how far back they clearly go, and how often their paths not only crossed (I loved Michael's casual cameo in The Fall of Sam Axe), but merged, so they wound up working together -- Michael doesn't seem to have any other Navy SEAL buddies, just Sam. And over the years, they've clearly developed brocooli. <3
They're each other's chosen family, and from what we've seen, that isn't usual for either of them. Michael especially doesn't choose family lightly, and doesn't make friends easily; Sam makes friends easily and is loyal to them, but it's all more casual buddy stuff -- Michael (and the rest of Michael's chosen family) is where he's put his heart. They'd do anything for each other, and not just because they owe each other their lives countless times over. They even sometimes manage to tell each other how they feel, in their own awkwardly sincere way, instead of coming at it sideways through teasing.
I'd love to see slash or warm gen for them that goes into that connection, whether backstory, a case they work on together, or just sitting and watching the sunset with a couple of cold ones.
Invisible Man (Bobby Hobbes, Darien Fawkes)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! A happy/warm/cheerful story about these two would be fabulous. They're both so competent and smart and strong in their own ways, and they're so in sync with each other; I would love a story that kept that in mind, anything from a slice of life to a plotty or wacky adventure.
Where to find it: Season 1 is out on DVD in both the UK and the US, and both seasons 1 & 2 are available for streaming in the US on Hulu. If neither of those options work for you, you can check out the usual suspects for such things.
Why I requested it: I-Man was pretty much tailor made for me: a true buddy show with great secondary characters, great dialogue, a villain truly worthy of the name, wackiness and tragedy and humor and courage and angst and omg Flowers for Hobbes! and paranoia and lithium and tri-dimensional data viewers and quicksilver madness and matching sunglasses and "little *prick*!" and it was just all good.
While I love pretty much everything about the show, Bobby & Darien are the heart of it for me. I loved watching them develop a closer and closer partnership, learning to trust each other, getting each other through their various dark times. I love how they play but how it isn't all sunshine and roses all the time, either. I love how they talk to each other, the banter and verbal jazz that makes them an "us" against the rest of the world; I love how that closeness doesn't blind either of them to the other's flaws and weaknesses.
I'd be happy with any kind of story about them as long as their connection is there, from adventure to a quiet day at home (or the office, or the movies... really, anything at all). I would love to see slash for them, but if that isn't your thing, a buddy story would also be entirely lovely.
Night Court (Harry, Dan)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! Anything you want to write, from a courtroom session to a slice of life, from wacky hijinks to intimate vulnerability -- it's all good. I just love the connection between these two, and as long as that's there, I'll be happy.
Where to find it: Seasons 1-3 are out on DVD in both the US and the UK, and season 4 is available on DVD direct through the WB Shop. There are also some short clips up on Hulu for streaming in the US if you just need to hear the voices again. Otherwise, you can check out the usual suspects, which should be able to provide.
Why I requested it: I got a lovely Night Court Treat last year, which usually means I won't request it again, at least not so soon. But it's stuck in my head, and there's so little fanfic for this show that I couldn't resist listing it again.
There is so much to love about this show, from sheer wackiness to genuine emotion. All of the characters and relationships are great, but my favorites are Harry and Dan. They're the heart of the show for me; Harry is the one person Dan really *trusts*, and he never betrays that trust as they get closer every year. And it works the other way, too; Dan's the one who has the guts to tell Harry the truth when Harry tries to quit his job. They are so different, and seem to have so little in common, and yet they're always, always there for each other. <3
I'd be happy with any kind of story about them as long as their connection is there, from a court case to an interlude in Harry's chambers to a quiet day at home (or wherever)... really, anything at all. I would love to see slash for them, but if that isn't your thing, a buddy story would also be fabulous.
Peacemakers (Finch, Stone)
Request details: Slash or warm gen, any rating, please! Anything you want to write, from a case story to them sitting on the porch one day watching the townsfolk go by, from courtroom session to a slice of life, from wacky hijinks to intimate vulnerability -- it's all good. I just love the connection between these two, and as long as that's there, I'll be happy.
Where to find it: This has never been put out on DVD, but it's available streaming on Hulu if you're in the US. If that doesn't work for you, the usual channels may work, or looking for Peacemakers-specific places in fannish spaces.
Why I requested it: I don't think there's anything about this show I don't love. The way Finch and Stone complement each other perfectly, each smart and experienced in his own way (and each constantly learning from the other), making them an incredibly competent team. The professionalism and respect that so quickly deepened into trust and affection. Finch's boundless curiosity; Stone's bone-deep protective streak. The sense of wonder and optimism in the setting, with new inventions and discoveries every day, making the world seem limitless in potential, against the traditions, solidity, and conservatism of the old guard that keeps everything grounded. Their easy, comfortable friendships with women, in Katie and Miss Luci. The hints we get of their histories. Just... everything.
The entire show was full of well-drawn, interesting characters -- both recurring and one-shot -- and any of them you want to bring in would be more than welcome, but the core of Peacemakers for me was the connection and balance between Stone and Finch. Show me their connection, slash or gen, in any situation, and I'll be happy.
Truly, I adore all these fandoms, and will be happy with absolutely anything you write, as long as you enjoy writing it.
And thank you, again!!
