Apologies for being so late with this letter /o\

Thank you so much! The thought of a story or art in any of these fandoms is already making me happy. These prompts probably lean toward fic, just because that's how my brain is wired, but I also asked for fanart for everything because art is awesome.

I love all of these fandoms unreservedly, so if you have a yen to explore the universe, or bring in additional characters I didn't list, it's all good.

If you want more information about my requests, read on - but please don't worry if your ideas go in a different direction. I would much rather enjoy what you wanted to create than think you felt obligated to do something just because of something I said. As long as it's for one of these relationships, I'll be happy. \o/

ETA: *facepalm* I forgot that this year's YT was being based on midnight UTC for major stuff, and have been sitting here sorting finances to have everything from 2014 done before 2015 instead of wallowing around in the archive. Which I just virtuously closed up the checkbook and the budget and was about to go do, and spotted people doing reveals posts already. Whoops!

Many thanks, [personal profile] merryghoul! <3 <3

I should have spent today running an errand that I couldn't finish yesterday, since otherwise I won't have time for at least a week or two. But it consists mostly of driving for about 3 hours round-trip to stand in a line for probably 15 minutes to return some equipment, and I admitted to myself when I got up that I just didn't want to. I took a few days off this week (after months of incredibly busy RL between work and family), and it has been bliss to (mostly) just stay home and not worry about anything. I wanted one more day of that, so screw the errand; it's worth it.

That busy RL has meant that too much stuff has piled up around my house to let me actually dive into Yuletide and not come back out the way I wanted to, but I've managed to do some poking around without the usual pressure to squeeze in as much reading as I can between other obligations. Again, bliss!

Starting, of course, with my own gift. My request wound up going out as a fairly last-minute pinch hit this year, so I was completely bowled over when it turned out to be something targeted so closely to my likes:

Duck and Cover (1470 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Burn Notice
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sam Axe/Michael Westen
Characters: Sam Axe, Michael Westen
Additional Tags: Backstory, Missions, Missions Gone Wrong, Escape, Caves, Kissing, Pre-Series
Summary:

Sam and Michael are together on a mission in Thailand that goes wrong. What happens next involves a lot of running.

I mean, look at those tags! ♥

The voices in this are bang-on, and I could totally see this happening. And the ending leaves them in such a solid, together place. *happy sigh* Mike/Sam is woefully rare in Burn Notice, so I'm doubly chuffed to have gotten this.

Now, as usual, I just wish there was another week till author reveals, so I could work my way through more of the stories while they're still anon; there are whole fandoms I haven't touched yet as I've bounced around the list. c'est la yuletide.

Thank you so much! The thought of a story in any of these fandoms is already making me happy.

I'd really like something that falls on the warm / happy / fluffy / vanilla end of the spectrum, if possible. If that isn't something you can do, I understand! Just please no deathfic or loss of a loved one, including pets; and no terminal illnesses of any kind as an h/c or angst trope. Thank you. <3

I started writing this up last night after I watched the finale, but was too tired to finish it, so now I'm writing it up fast in the brief lull between Korra and Haven. (It is a good night for tv!).

Massive spoilers for the final two episodes )

Okay, wow, that was way more random than I'd planned, but I'm still sort of awash in reaction, and Haven is starting up any second.

I've been caught up in Burn Notice since my post last night; there's nothing like having people tell you they're reacting completely differently to make you sit down and figure out why you're responding to a show in a particular way! Which is fabulous, as the more I think about it, the more this season crystallizes for me. Who knows if I'm right, but man, I'm having fun right now with it. <3

But that also means I haven't been thinking about other things to post, and I suspect linking back to an earlier post doesn't quite count as new content. *g* And it's 20 minutes to midnight.

So, er. Cat video? This is Darien, just barely 2 years old, hanging out in the bathtub at 4am.

Continuing my complete random assortment of daily posts!

I watch Burn Notice in odd spurts, almost never one at a time but letting them pile up for weeks and then marathoning them when the mood strikes. I'm not quite sure why; maybe because every episode aims for intense, and I'm not quite in the mood for that on Thursdays, who knows.

But tonight was suddenly a Burn Notice night. I'm not quite caught up, but I'm watching the 8/15 ep right now, "Things Unseen". Okay, yeah, this is what happens, I had to keep watching.

Random stuff about this season )

Spoilers for 7x08, Things Unseen )

Okay, I think I can fit in one more ep if I kinda live-blog it a bit, because now I have to see what happens next. Things are getting a bit tense.

Spoilers for 7x09 Tipping Point )

Good grief. I need to find some kitten tv or something to unwind from all of that. They're seriously pulling out the stops this season.

in before midnight, woo!

To keep myself busy and online so I don't forget to register, I wrote up the world's longest, rambliest post. \o/ There are spoilers for practically everything here...

I'm settled in for a nice snowy weekend -- lots of cat food, plenty of people food, clean laundry, and a good parking spot. (... I'm a little compulsive about parking spots in bad weather, after 20 years of unassigned street parking in a neighborhood where snow emergencies mean there are too many cars vying for juuuust too few spots, especially given how many people don't know how to shovel, argh, so we wind up losing potential spots to crappy shoveling jobs. But I digress.)

This is going to be much better than last weekend's 27 inches in 24 hours; it'll be more like 4-ish inches in 24 hours, just enough so I can indulge my hermit-y ways and not budge till I have to go to work on Tuesday.

My only concrete plan for today is to sign up for Vividcon, yay! I can't believe it's already time again. All my fannish plans keep winding up on the backburner, but at least maybe this will kick the vidding in the butt, because if reg is here, deadlines are nearly upon us.

I've grabbed a bunch of tv that I probably won't have time to watch, but it looks interesting enough that maybe I'll give it a try at some point, like The Americans and Cracked. I'm banking them for the moment, for some day I'm looking for something new to watch and can marathon through.

I've been watching a bunch of other stuff, though. A couple I've only seen the pilot for so far:

Zero Hour )

The Following )

And then there were the shows that ended recently:

Leverage )

Fringe )

Alphas )

And then, of course, there are the shows that are currently airing and ongoing. Anyone else remember how, 15 years ago, we used to fret every year that this year would be the last year of fannish tv? How we hung on cancellation news, because if X got cancelled, what would we watch?

I kinda miss those days, to tell you the truth. How is there this much tv all the damn time? I feel like I never talk about any of it, because I'm always racing to catch up to just watching it. And for all that I tend to really like the summer shows, man, I miss having a few months every year to catch up on stuff I missed, or rewatch things, or get involved in complicated discussions about What! Might! Happen! (... with other unspoiled people, because for me the fun is guessing, not knowing in advance).

So instead, have a bunch of brief overall reactions to shows, with only a little specific commentary, just so people have some idea of what it is I'm watching these days:

Person of Interest )

Elementary )

Lewis )

Once Upon a Time )

White Collar )

Revenge )

Shows that I'm waiting to come back:

Grimm )

Burn Notice )

Haven )

I know as soon as I post this I'll come up with another half dozen shows I meant to mention. Oh well.

I would write about the reality tv I'm watching, but this is already an absurdly long post. Suffice to say, my favorite shows -- Amazing Race, Project Runway, Top Chef -- still have me, but I'm burning out from overload, and less invested every season. All three shows have had aired four complete seasons since December 2010, and all three are in or about to start another season. I hate to give any of them up for completist reasons, but man. I am just burning out.

I am so jazzed about this, I can't even say. [personal profile] cesperanza gives the full background here, but basically, once upon a time, she came up with this idea for writing tiny stories about characters in a Canadian shack, and shortly thereafter there were 101 little ~500-word stories in something like 60 fandoms written by about 30 people.

And somehow it has been ten years now since then, wow. So in celebration, she's created a new collection on AO3, for anyone who wants to contribute.

I've got two stories in there already, one Leverage and one Burn Notice, and a few more ideas kicking around in my head, too. (This is what happens with me and Shacks: I wind up writing in fandoms I've never written in before.)

Come play! These are a lot of fun, and very low-pressure. Just aim for roughly 500 words, stick your characters in a Canadian shack (no matter how unlikely that may be), and post to the Canadian Shack 2011 collection on AO3.

Help us get to 101!

Thank you so much! The thought of a story in any of these fandoms is already making me happy.

Usually this is where I say "whatever you want to do with them is great", and then put my specifics likes and dislikes under a cut for easy ignoring. I'm still doing that, with one caveat:

This past year has been pretty rough on me in terms of personal losses, and I'd really like something that falls on the warm / happy / fluffy / vanilla end of the spectrum, if possible. If that isn't something you can do, I understand; just please no deathfic or loss of a loved one, including pets; and no terminal illnesses of any kind as an h/c trope. Thank you. <3

There are a bunch of things I keep meaning to post about (Venture Bros, omg that second to last ep was so good! Burn Notice is back! [although I haven't watched this week's ep yet so please don't spoil me *g*] Fringe! [also haven't watched this week's ep, so please don't spoil that one either, sorry!] Yuletide signups are almost live! AO3 NOW ALLOWS VID EMBEDS OMG!!! - and, you know, has shinier code in general, and tons more Yuletide stuff, but omg VID EMBEDS! Permanent URLs even if your hosting changes! YAY!!)

But the thing that causes me to actually finish a draft for once is this:

cut for image )

\o/ GO HEIDI! She looks fabulous, and as Tom and Lorenzo of Project Rungay put it:

"Ahem. As we recall, a certain Ms. Garcia threw down the gauntlet during the Project Runway Season 8 finale judging session with a derisive "I'd like to see you wear that dress, Klum."

Why, kittens. We do believe Miss Heidi Klum just gave Miss Nina Garcia the finger, figuratively (and fashionably) speaking."

HAH!

Now let's see if Nina actually wears Gretchen's godawful knit-granny-panties and hideous shiny green leather jacket combo.

There are more pics at the link - Heidi is totally showing that dress off, and looking very happy about it, too. Yay for Mondo!

I've been poking around Dreamwidth for a couple of weeks now, looking for communities, and figured this would be a good Friday to start sharing the wealth. And since I've been happily catching up on the last few eps of Burn Notice*, here, have some comms:

[community profile] bn_sparks - adult fanfic, both het and slash

[community profile] burn_notice - discussion

[community profile] burn_notice_fic - all genres, all ratings

[community profile] burn_notice_graphics - fanart and graphics

[community profile] winter_deaddrop - prompt-based flashfic comm

Some of these aren't very active yet, but hopefully if more people are interested that will change. (And that Fanlore entry I linked up there could use some love, too, now that I look at it...)

---
Follow Friday ([community profile] followfriday): Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die". Just introduce us to some new things to read. You can see all the entries on DW that have been tagged Follow Friday here.

---
* I'm not all the way caught up yet! Please don't spoil me for the final two eps of s3; I'm watching those this weekend. TYK!
