Amazing Race 18x09 and 18x10 (spoilers)

18x09: We're Good American People

I couldn't bring myself to post last week. Gah, I can't believe we lost the cowboys. :( And worse, we lost them while Kent and Vyxsyn are still freaking in the game. (While she literally pulls him around in a little wagon because a piece of luggage whapped into his leg. He is officially more useless than Flo was. Who knew that was even possible! At least she could be charming and flirty, and had some language skills. All he has is a surfeit of whine.)

Gah, so horribly unfair.

I don't blame the Globetrotters at all for U-turning them; they did what they had to do. But it just baffles me that people are so willing to help every other team, including the Globetrotters, while making Jet and Cord work completely on their own. They should not have been the only team to have to re-do the bike-riding!

I mean, it's really a hell of a complement; people obviously considered them the biggest threat, even more so than the charming, charismatic professional athletes, which. Go cowboys! (And more than Zev and Justin, who keep skating quietly into first place without anyone apparently noticing.) But it's been so frustrating, watching everyone else get pulled along. Argh. In a straight-up competition where everyone ran their own damn race, the cowboys would still be in it, and I think would have been in the final three. Although okay, props to all the other teams for not U-turning either the cowboys or the Globetrotters, and just letting them battle it out for last in a straight-up contest.

They are just such good guys. I miss 'em. (And their theme song. <3)



18x10: Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen

Wow, this was sort of a nail-biter. Fortunately, the day was saved by Kent's unrelenting whining and refusal to listen to Vyxsin. \o/

I am so, so glad that they'll be off my screen. I wouldn't have thought I could like them any less than I did in their original season, but I would have been wrong in that assumption. Wow, but I cannot stand them, and particularly him. Vyxsin may turn into a panicky puddle at the thought of reading a map, but at least she's willing to pitch in and work at whatever needs doing. Cripes. She's not wrong that his idea of "being positive" means "attack Vyxsin" when something has gone wrong. (Also, wtf, his idea of "being positive" is saying "la la I can't hear you, I have my blinders on so I can't hear you saying you think we did something wrong, la la la", and then yelling at her when it turns out she was right to question their decision? Screw you, Kent. You are 35 years old. Grow the hell up.)

And them being out means Zev and Justin are still in, yay! They are my next-favorite team after the cowboys, and for much the same reason -- good guys, who really like each other, and who do what needs doing to get through the tasks. Even if Zev does like horrible puns. *g*

Although it's a close call, all around, at this point. I like all of them - they're all good people, who like their teammates and are generally good to the people around them, they're all happy to be on the race and that shows in their attitudes, they all race hard. And I can't imagine any of them whining to be carried around in a wagon because they had a boo-boo. ahem.

So right now, I'd be happy with any of the final four teams winning, for what may be the first time ever. Of course, that will probably change as we get near the end and things get tense, and I realize there's one team I really really really want to win. But I won't know that till it happens. *g*

And even if it does, I won't be made unhappy by any of them winning. Kinda nice!

I was so pissed that the Cowboys had to go. I like the other teams (except Kent and Vyxsin) but the Cowboys I loved best. I think a large part of it was that they so clearly enjoyed the experience, even when it was hard work.

I also really liked it when Mallory's dad said he thought they had been awake for 36 hours, just staring out of the train window, because the countryside was just so beautiful.

I don't remember Kent and Vyxsin being this annoying last time, or coming constantly unglued like this. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

I was crushed the Cowboys went :( But cheered to lose Kent. GAHHHH!
