[personal profile] terrio got a December 2 request in with enough time for me to answer it, so:

What is your Platonic Ideal pizza? toppings, crust, deep-dish vs. flat, etc.

Heee, I wasn't actually expecting a pizza question.

I don't eat pizza that often anymore, but when I do, it's flat, thin crust; the crust should be a vehicle for the toppings, not in competition with them. If I have my druthers I tend toward white pizzas, usually chicken and broccoli. My favorite is Bertucci's Silano -- Bertucci's is overpriced and overhyped, but my god I love this pizza. It's chicken and broccoli with mozzarella and a lemon cream sauce. It's the sauce that makes it so awesome. The one (huge) downside is that Bertucci's won't deliver. And I'm lazy when it comes to pizza; I want it to come to me. *g* So this is a rare treat.

When I'm with a group that's just getting a few basic pizzas to share, I go for pepperoni, nice and simple.

Beyond those, I'm okay with various meat pizzas, but no fish, no fungus, and mostly no vegetables (or fruit -- I don't like pineapple, not even with ham). I'll eat plain cheese, too, if it comes to it, but once I discovered I liked pepperoni as a kid, plain cheese got boring. (Unless it's an english-muffin pizza! Those are in a class of their own.)

dammit, now I want english-muffin pizza.

Full meme request list here, still open

oh man, lemon sauce sounds good. I love the white pizzas, at least in part because I can't tolerate most tomato based sauces any more. But I think I'll take mine with spinach instead of broccoli. 8-)

Someone, years ago, was talking about a local pizza joint that made a pizza with gyro meat and tsatziki and feta, and I guess the fact that I still remember that conversation without being able to remember who was talking about it or even what city she was local to, says something, eh?

But we have a lcoal chain (they've got three? I think? locations, but they aren't nationwide or anything, called i fratelli's that makes a thin crust (nom) chicken and artichoke pizza that is fabulous. So we get two, the chicken and artichoke for me, the "all of the meats. All of them. Plus more." for the kid, and the spouse eats both equally. 8-)

ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZA. That sounds like a thing I should try.

Wow, that chicken and broccoli pizza does sound awesome. I have never actually had broc on a pizza, hmmm....

I second the aversion to pineapple and fish on pizza, but must admit I'm rather fond of fungus. (Which sounds disgusting, when you put it like that.)

(I'll refrain from trying to convince you that mushrooms are actually delicious.)

And I share your love of chicken alfredo with broccoli: yum. But somewhere in the back of my mind, even though I totally know better, I have the equation pizza == tomato sauce. So the idea of broccoli on pizza, even though you clearly described the lemon cream sauce, kind of made me go 'bzuh?'. But I'm all better now. :-)
