OUaT s1 - Disney references

arduinnaThere are a bunch of Disney references scattered throughout the season, and probably lots more I missed since I haven't watched that many recent Disney movies (where by "recent" I mean "in the last 25 years" ahem).
But I did catch some, and more on my vidding rewatch. This one needed a couple of videos to cover the stuff I saw, so some of the cuts have embeds as well as still shots.
Wish upon a star:
Fantasia:
Look behind Regina's shoulder. The hat on the stand is totally the Sorcerer's Apprentice hat from Disney's Fantasia. This isn't good, as this is how Rumple displays trophies.
Mickey Mouse:
This one is much more disturbing than it seems, as Gold has been known to turn people into objects and then display them as trophies. So not only did he have Mickey's Sorcerer's Apprentice hat, it's entirely possible he has Mickey as well...
Cinderella castle fireworks:
These fireworks are in fact taking place above the castle where Cinderella is celebrating her wedding.
the dwarves from Snow White:
And if the cartoon images weren't enough, the same episode gave us this:
Snow White and her bluebirds - pic and video.
We get the image of modern Mary Margaret gently helping a "bluebird" (that is not a bluebird) in the pilot; it's our introduction to her, in fact. It's about as saccharine an introduction as you'd imagine, and I was a little eye-rolly at it.
Later, we see get an even more obvious callback to the movie, with Snow cleaning up the dwarves' cabin and humming "With a Smile and a Song"
That cracked me right the hell up, I must admit - nicely done, show! The dwarves' whistling had seemed utterly gratuitous to me and actually kind of annoyed me on that level, because the point of that scene seemed to be "yes, these are the Disney dwarves", which is not what the show is saying about anyone else, but this one was a gorgeous call-back and skewering, and couldn't be more clearly saying "this is not the cartoon Snow White you grew up with".
(don't worry, the bird made it out safe)
